HOW TO MAKE A TUBE
1.) OPEN GIMP (go to File and press open )LOCAT THE PIC YOU WANT TO WORK ON...PRESS OPEN
2.) from that picture window go to the top and hit
[File] then press
[New] now look at the the drop-down window and in the..
" Advanced Options select ...
"Fill with background " and press
the arrow along side it... then choose...
.[Transparency] then hit [Ok]
Now you have a new transparent window open....looks grey checked....great.
3.) Back to the original pic of .............. click on it as the image you want to work with.
Then on your long skinny Gimp toolbar (called the main toolbox) click on the picture that lookes like a
[Lasso]-............ ( called "select hand drawn regions"........this is your cut tool.
4.) now put your cursor back on your picture you choose to work on and now you will see your cursor change to the Lasso icon.
Now what you want to do is draw a circle around her head or body (depending on what you want to cut out)
by holding down the right mouse buttom and moving the mouse right around your pet and when you come to the end make sure the lines cross to close the circle.
If you mess up just click [Edit] then [Undo] and you can start again.
Don't be too worried about getting it precise; you just want to remove the bulk of the unwanted background so a rough cirlce will be fine...not too close or too far.
When you're happy with your cutout shape and you have released your right mouse button you will see those marching ants around your circled pet. (They are the continuous lines moving around what you just circled...
5.)Now click
[Edit] then press
[Copy] just above the circled picture this will copy the cut out section.
Go to your transparent second window (the checkered Transparency one) click
[Edit] and press
[Paste].
6.) Now on the transparency screen click
[Layer] then press..
[Anchor Layer] this will get rid of the marching ants and now you can begin without them.
Now you are ready to use the eraser tool to remove everything except your pet. Look on the main toolbox and press
brushes(big black dot) choose a brush size...if its too big go back and choose a nother.
At the bottom of your screen you will see a tab that says
100%....and a little arrow next to the box its in...press it and go to 200 or 400 zoom ...
its easier to work with and you get less mistakes .....also its much quicker....go all the way around using the
Erasor (pink in colour in the gimp tool box.)
removing all the old background and leave just your pet.
Change brush sizes when needed(go to black dot and press to choose brush size)
When you're done
zoom back to normal 100%
look at it and see if your happy with it
If its out of focus go to
Filters and choose
Enhance now press
Sharpen and move the first slider along under the new window just opened....till you see the face,
Now the second slider to clear the blur
When your happy with it...press
Save
..... click [File] name it ....below that ...look to the loaction it is being filed to....
and below that press
"File by Extension" press it and choose the
GIF FILE...gif is for tubes only and allows the background to stay transparent
then [Save as]
Press Export
Press Save
Now anytime you want to make a picture with your pet you already have the tube (.gif image) made!
7.) from this point you can open any other picture,
Also open your the tube you just filed
Press copy on pet tube you just made
Go to new background you want your pet on
Go to Edit and press
Paste
If its the wrong size go to
Edit and press undo
it will take the tube back off for you and now go back to the pet tube.....press
Image and choose
Scale Image
if it was too big...make it smaller and if it was too small make it bigger
copy and paste again to new background and see how it looks....you can go to edit and press undo again ...than re size it ....
do it as manytimes as needed till its the right size on the background....there is no way i can tell you what size to make it...its a matter of judgeing it for yourself.
Once your happy...mabey you need to rotate it a bit.....go to main toolbox again and choose the
Rotate Layer or Selection (Refer to your visuals if stuck)
when you rotate... press on the corner of the marching ants and hold mouse down...than keep holding and slide the tube into rotating position...release mouse and .a new small window opens....on it press the
Rotoate and it will complete the rotation.
to move it around go to the gimp main toolbox and press the cross with little crosses on the ends of it(called "Move layers and selections)...click your mouse on tube...keep held down and slide in to positon..release the mouse .
.
now go to the top of the browser again and press Layer than press Anchor...now the ants are gone
now go back to file and press Save as...name it and this time in the File by extention choose jpeg file format not gif.....this will make your picture visible anywhere. and save.
Scale image...go to Image...choose Scale Image.....press the height and width...than save
